Suggestions for a Summer berth near Falmouth

The plan is to bring our newly acquired Ovni 385 from Holland in April.

It’s final Winter berth will be Liverpool (October 2018) but not wishing to rush and miss all the lovely South West Cruising.

I’m considering locating for a 6 month berth/base somewhere near Falmouth.

Due to having to return home during the spring/summer, the costs of leaving the yacht for a month at a time in different places would be more that a full 6 month berth package.

The plan therefor would be to leave Holland and make for Dartmouth onwards as soon as is possible (Weather dependant!) to the summer berth.

If anybody has experience/suggestions I would be keen to learn. I have sailed quite a bit on friends yachts and Charter yachts in the area.

Toad is currently in Sutton Marina in Plymouth. We normally take her back to Swansea for the winter but decided to keep her in Plymouth to see if we would use her in the winter.
We find Plymouth to be a convenient base and have cruised East to the Exe and West to Scilly and Padstow. It has good transport links, shopping, entertainment and chandlery.
Let me know if I can be of any help. It would be good to meet up.

    Thought l would update this.
I have now booked a swinging mooring at Mylor Marina in Falmouth.
Having spent quite a few weeks over the years in Falmouth and surrounding area l’m hoping this will meet our needs.
Anybody in Falmouth over the Summer? it would be good to meet up.

Hi John, sorry this post is a bit late but we were going to suggest Mylor, so interesting to see you have decided to go there. We have friends there who also have a swinging mooring and have found it a good choice. We may pass through Falmouth this summer if we get weather for the Scillys so will look out for you!

Hi, we’re on the boat now.
I brought her from Haarlem April 16th so this is out first time on the boat as a couple!! Diane as never sailed before. But this area is perfect we went to Fowey over the weekend.
The sailing club here in Mylor have cruising weeks to The Scillies so aiming for one of those in August.
We are also down in July for a few weeks. Is your Ovni in Universal marina? I stayed there for nearly two weeks in the area before moving on to here and l did see an Ovni there.

        Best wishes
